5 Steps to Protect Yourself and Others: Everyone can follow these recommendations, but they are particularly important if you are in an area where people are known to have COVID-19.
1. Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
2. Cover your cough
Make sure that you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with the bend of your elbow or with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the used tissue immediately into a closed bin and wash your hands.
3. Stay at home if you feel unwell
Stay at home if you feel unwell, even with a slight fever and cough.
By staying home and not going to work or other places, you will recover faster and will avoid transmitting diseases to other people.
4. Keep a safe distance from sick people.
Maintain a safe distance of at least two meters between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing since the virus is thought to spread between people who are within that distance.
5. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early — but call first
If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early — if you can, call your hospital or health center first so that they can tell you where you should go.
