With the increasing footfall at Aadhaar Seva Kendras, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to keep all the Aadhaar centres open on all seven days of the week. Note that earlier, Aadhaar centres were closed mostly on Tuesdays.
UIDAI tweeted saying, “UIDAI-run #AadhaarSevaKendra now open all 7 days. These centres have the capacity to service up to 1000 Aadhaar enrolment or update requests per day. Visit an #ASK today to experience Aadhaar services in a state-of-the-art environment.”
According to the show on UIDAI’s website, there are at least 19 functional Aadhaar Seva Kendras at present. The Aadhaar-issuing body plans to have 114 such centres in 53 cities across the country by the end of 2019. In order to locate your nearest UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra, you need to visit ‘Book an Appointment’ page on UIDAI’s portal. A dropdown menu with names of the places where the Aadhaar centres are functional at present will appear. You can select the centre of your choice and proceed to book an appointment by giving your mobile number.
Note that if you are enrolling for a new Aadhaar card, you will have to give details like name, gender, date of birth, address etc. In case you want to update or change your existing Aadhaar data, you have to provide your Aadhaar number while booking an appointment.
Here’s how you can book an online Aadhaar Seva Kendra appointment to avail Aadhaar services
Step 1: Go to UIDAI’s website (uidai.gov.in). Go to ‘My Aadhaar’ tab. From the drop-down menu select ‘Book an Appointment’.
Step 2: Under the header ‘Book an appointment at UIDAI run Aadhaar Seba Kendra’, choose ‘City/Location’. Now click on ‘Proceed to book an appointment’.
Step 3: After selecting ‘City/Location’, a new page will open. Three service options such as ‘New Aadhaar, ‘Aadhaar Update’ or ‘Manage Appointment’ will display on the page. If you select ‘Aadhaar Update’ option and enter registered mobile number, captcha code and generated valid OTP (One-time password), you will have to verify your application by entering OTP. In case you are applying for ‘New Aadhaar’ for the first time, you can verify the new mobile number as well.
Step 4: After successful OTP verification, fill the detailed online form. The details include appointment details, personal details, selecting the time slot and reviewing all the details. Click on the ‘Next’ tab to proceed further.Step 5: Once you have filled up appointment details, personal details, select the time slot to book an appointment. Check your appointment details and if you find any discrepancy, you can click on the ‘Previous’ tab and rectify the mistakes. If details entered by you are correct, click the ‘Submit’ tab to complete the online booking of your appointment.
It is worth mentioning that UIDAI is gradually expanding the list of Aadhaar Seva Kendras across India. If there is none near you, you can also go to Aadhaar Kendras being run in banks, post offices, BSNL customer centres, and other designated state government offices.
