MI vs KKR: Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians are back after a short break as they face Kolkata Knight Riders today at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. MI have five wins out of seven matches, while KKR have secured four from seven contests so far in the IPL 2020.
For KKR, questions remain as to whether their key spinner Sunil Narine, who has been once reported for suspect bowling action, will play or not. He had missed the game against RCB even as KKR hoped for an “early resolution” to the issues surrounding his controversial action.
As far as head-to-head record between the two teams is concerned, the result is heavily tilted 20-6 in favour of Rohit’s MI.
An explosive batting line-up and a lethal-at-death bowling attack give defending champions MI a definitive edge over KKR. In their previous clash this season, MI handed a 49-run defeat to KKR.
With five wins against their name from seven games, MI currently sit at the second spot on the points table behind Delhi Capitals. KKR, on the other hand, so far have secured four victories from seven matches and are at fourth spot.
Karthik’s captaincy had come under intense criticism due to the team’s erratic campaign so far. The 35-year-old told KKR management that he wants to “focus on his batting and contributing more to the team’s cause.”
